The worst performers of the session were Saracen Mineral Holdings Ltd (ASX:), which fell 0.85% or 0.04 points to trade at 4.64 at the close. Pro Medicus Ltd (ASX:) declined 0.44% or 0.12 points to end at 27.15 and Jumbo Interactive Ltd (ASX:) was 0% or 0 points to 11.41.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 975 to 278 and 339 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.27% or 4.70 to $1731.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.16% or 0.06 to hit $37.18 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.08 to trade at $39.80 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.15% to 0.6928, while AUD/JPY rose 0.24% to 74.41.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.457.
